Nijvel, 28 april - Corona fnuikt de groeiplannen van Cantata niet. Wel integendeel. Op 28 april opent de Belgische koffie- en theeverdeler een nieuwe winkel in Nijvel, in Shopping Nivelles. Daarmee zet het voor het eerst voet aan wal in Wallonië. Het Kruibeekse familiebedrijf mét eigen branderij coffeeRoots is aan een opmerkelijk groeitraject bezig, waarbij het dit jaar in ons land nog vijf vestigingen zal openen. In 2022 en 2023 mikt het zelfs op zeven nieuwe winkels per jaar. En ook een uitbreiding naar Groothertogdom Luxemburg zit in de pipeline.

Opmerkelijk: de stad was zelf vragende partij om Cantata naar Nijvel te halen. De opmars van het Belgische merk, met onder andere al meer dan 300 winkels in Rusland en zo’n 30 in Frankrijk, is dus niet onopgemerkt gebleven. “We krijgen iedere maand wel een paar vragen van shoppingcentra of steden”, zegt de CEO van Cantata, Chantal Hoorens. “Corona heeft op dat vlak voor een speciale dynamiek gezorgd. Er komen veel meer winkelpanden vrij waardoor de shoppingcentra zelf aan onze mouw komen trekken. Dat maakt natuurlijk dat we makkelijker kunnen onderhandelen en we betere condities krijgen. We hadden sowieso al de ambitie om door te groeien. Doordat we zoveel panden aangeboden krijgen,is het nu of nooit. Die trein willen we niet laten passeren.”
