The Ginger One sluipt op laatste dag weer dichter bij podium in zijn tweede race van het Junior World Rally Championship

18 mei, Portugal/Hasselt – Onze landgenoot Thomas ‘The Ginger One’ Martens is in zijn Ford Fiësta Rally3 knap vierde geëindigd in de Rally Van Portugal, in het Junior WRC. Pas op de razend spannende laatste dag kon de jonge Hasselaar (18) met zijn co-piloot Max Freeman nog een plek in het klassement klimmen. Na Zweden in februari was Portugal de tweede race voor Thomas in het wereldkampioenschap. De overwinning in het Junior WRC in Portugal ging naar de Australiër Gill Taylor.

"We hebben het gedaan. Ik ben zeer tevreden", reageert The Ginger One vanuit Portugal. "Belangrijk is ook dat we in onze eerste rally op gravel weer enorme stappen hebben gezet in onze manier van rijden en de snelheden die we haalden. Wij zijn klaar voor onze volgende race: eind juni in Griekenland." De WRC EKO Acropolis Rally Greece 2025 vindt plaats van 26 tot 29 juni.
